Flower barrette tutorial

The lovely people at ABAKHAN set me another challenge of making something with items selected from their site to the value of £15. My first project is this flower barrette which I made using an 80mm silver barrette and a  diamante button sliver (25mm) or Diamante button gold (32mm) from ABAKHAN.

I used fabric from and old pair of denim jeans. Using the Tim Holtz Alterations dies Tattered Florals and Tattered leaves, cut out four leaves and five layers for the flower.

Was sent two buttons and decided the sliver worked better with the fabric. Using a pair of wire cutters take the shank from the back of the buttons.
Before putting the flower together play with the layers to see which arrangement you like best. In this one I alternated the right side of the fabric and the wrong side, liked the contrast. Then using a heat gun attach all  the leaves and layers of the flower.
When that is completed then fix the flower to the barrette with the hot glue gun.
Hope you find this useful. Would love to see what you create ,if you were inspired by this tutorial. Have a great day and keep warm and safe.
