Huge thank you to Brenda for the lovely candy I won from her blog. I can't wait to have a play with these dies and the card is just beautiful. Below you can see what I have been working on today.
I bought some large jeans from Cat Protection charity shop in Cambridge a while back as they were only 50p each! Used my Sizzix 8 inch square die to cut the squares of denim. Used the Sizzix Jumbo Tattered Florals die and the Sizzix Cat #2 Bigz for the appliqué. The red rose fabric used for the cats and the backing fabric were both bought over nine years ago, so it's great to finally used them. Once I cut the denim squares I added the image using heat'n'bond and then free machined around the edges. When all the squares were sewn together (I used a denim needle) the backing fabric was put face down and sewn, leaving a gap for turning. Once turned right side out, the edge was top-stitched. The arrangement and finish is not perfect but I am so pleased with this project and it will be perfect for using in the garden in summer.
